Its way to early to tell but worth discussing I suppose. This should get really interesting in 2022.

I'm guessing the pecking order in talent is..

1. Conner Weigman
2. Haynes King
3. Zach Calzada

If Haynes King plays the entire 2021 season, it would be my guess that Calzada transfers in 22' With Haynes King missing most or all of this season it totally shakes things up.

If Haynes King is named the starter next year, how does this effect Weigman if at all?

If Weigman is named QB1 next year, who stays or would both Calzada and King bolt?

I'm guessing we wait and see if Haynes King will come back later this season. And if he does, how good (or bad) will he be?

It would be my guess he transfers regardless of what happens. He's not fit for big time football. I really believe he looks competent in practice. But the big stage isn't for him. He needs to go to an FCS school or maybe even a G5 program where the game is slower and there is not a ton of pressure to win.

I’m with Weazel, Calzada transfers regardless. I had high hopes for him but he’s been in the system long enough to get it despite our O line play or lack there of in fact. I’m not saying Weigman takes it next year but he does look good on tape. We’ve got a lot more questions other than QB looking past this year. Firstly I’d like to see a OC take over play calling but I know that’s not going to happen, secondly I wouldn’t be opposed to a new O line coach but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that sometimes needs a few years to develop a line. Thirdly I know our WR coach is a great recruiter but as far as coaching goes, I don’t see our wideouts getting separation compared to other teams with equal talent and I don’t mean just this year

Can we not create some fictional “QB situation” for once in this program’s history?

King is the starter. He is injured. Calzada is the backup. He is going to play until King is healthy enough to do so. Barring unusual circumstances King is probably going into next season the stater. That’s how it works and that’s how Jimbo does things.
