I freaking love what Beamer is about. Clemson recruits mostly nationally so SC gets its share of good SC kids. Also we are recruiting on a more national scale now. The northeast in particular.

The Athletic had a good article earlier this summer on recruiting in the state of South Carolina. They talked to high school coaches around the state.

Clemson has transitioned to recruiting nationally, and cherry picks the top in-state talent. However, their staff still works hard to maintain relationships in the state.

Clemson started recruiting nationally because of their success. USCe did so in an effort to compete with Clemson and the upper tier of the SEC. Muschamp’s staff did not have good relationships in their own state. As a result, they missed out on several prospects and passed on others that developed into good players.

All the HS coaches they spoke loved Spurrier’s old staff, especially Beamer. Muschamp burned a lot of bridges in state, but it seems Beamer has already rebuilt many of them.
