Do you people realize how big of an a-hole Saban is?

No but it's easy to spot LSU jealousy a
mile away.

Yeah, I bet you do. But he did leave a program soon in decline for a program on the rise, so………

Big enough to shite on the entire LSU fanbase for 14 years running

How does he shite on LSU? . By beating us year in and out? Well he does that to every SEC team. He sure did shite on the Bama fan base by saying he wish he never left LSU.

Interesting way of saying "Saban told him no"

Who was Saban supposed to fire to allow Cochran to have an on-field role?

Unless of course he was some deeper personality issues that would make him unsuitable for the position. Saban would be in a position to know I guess.

One year at Georgia and he's having a breakdown? Seeing that bus coming would hardly take a knowledge of quantum mechanics. Coach Saban knows his coaches and players very well.

Not obligated, but it seemed a little unceremonious in how it went down. I mean, what's really stopping Saban from giving him a shot with Special teams. Off the bat, you can't honestly say he would be a worse option than what you were already employing.

They already had Jeff Banks as special teams coordinator at the time. He’s pretty highly thought of. And he certainly helped in fixing the kicking game. Punting isn’t what it was but not awful either. Coverage units have always been consistently good.

So basically your argument is push Banks out for Cochran?

Regardless, Banks is gone now too. Following Sarkisian to Texas. Drew Svoboda is the new special teams coordinator. Known as a recruiter. Wait and see how well special teams progress under him.

What a fricking stupid statement, he is the same a-hole he was at LSU but we didn’t mind it when he was our a-hole!!!

Seems kind of a shitty way of disposing of someone who worked for you for 13 years, but it's 100% in line with how Saban operates.

Sorry, but Alabama isn't all about participation trophies...

No shite. You think I care what kind of person he is? I was alluding to the fact that he has to be hard to work for because he is a huge prick.

And Cochran left because Saban refused to give him an opportunity to advance any farther in the program. After 13 years with him.

Are there Bammers out there that really think he would want to come back after that? Is that what this thread is supposed to be about?

Cochran wanted an on the field coaching position namely special teams when he has been a lifelong S&C coach and had no experience as a position coach or coordinator. Obviously Saban isnt going to go for that.

He was also STCOY that first year at the Capstone.

He was a S&C coach, not an on the field coach. He was in the highest position possible for his profession.

He wanted to switch professions, but Alabama isn't in the business of hiring people with less experience than a GA for a critical on the field position of which they are limited to 10.

As a Georgia fan, Cochran's presence on the program has always been a little strange to me.

We get the guy thinking he's going to be a visible, vocal part of the program but you never heard anything about the guy from players, or even recruits.

I honestly forgot he coached for us until now really. I hope all is well with him.

To be honest, his energy level just isn't sustainable for a normal human being and I wonder if that has anything to do with what's going on. For what it's worth, Dean Legge mentioned this is not the first time Cochran has been away from the program I believe.

Cochran approached Saban about an on-field position, and Bama didn’t have an opening for him.

He also wasn't qualified for those types of roles.

Do you realize how many devastating injuries we were having back to the 2017 season? We are blessed to get this sports science building in place and have two guys that know their way around the cutting edge of training and nutrition.

It has already made a world of difference with the kind of injuries we were experiencing. Cochran knew BAMA wanted a different approach and it was coming one way or the other.

this is what people not in the S&C industry or not bama fans dont realize. Scott had developed quite a reputation for destroying shoulders and his players having devastating injuries.

Alot of it was the approach of scott, he pushed and pushed hard, just not always smart. It worked for years and Im sure most level headed Bama fans are thankful for his service...but it was time for both parties to move on.

Bama absoletely has a better S&C coach and entire department now. and I say that as an LSU fan.

I still think Moffit, especially with the way he has kept up with the times, is the best. But he is still too old school imo with some things, including the dumbass conditioning test, something that saban loved and implemented. But even Saban has changed on that now.

Dr Matt Rhea is someone that has been and still is at the cutting edge and is an amazing coach. Proof is in the pudding, while everyone else last year saw a huge uptick in soft tissue issues.....BAMA saw a 50% reduction from previous years when Scott was running the show.

TLDR: BAMA upgraded ....frick BAMA!!!

Says the fan of a school who fired a coach with 2 NCG appearances, one title, and 77% win rate.

Word is he has an Adderall addiction and is in rehab. I doubt this is anything new and he was abusing at Bama, too.
