To suggest that A&M or Mizzou, each of which accepts the vast majority of applicants, is even comparable to UGA is objectively incorrect and not supported by the data.

SEC Academic Rankings:

1. Vanderbilt

2. UGA, UF, UT-Austin (tie)

3. A&M (accepts 75% of applicants), U. South Carolina (tie)

4. The rest.

Outside of Vanderbilt, “ranking” is not outcome determinative. Ceteris peribus, an LSU or Ole Miss grad with a 4.0 will beat out a UGA or UF grad with a 3.3.

This is pretty far off...congrats on the freshman class though, seriously. A&M is better than Georgia, they have a high acceptance rate based on state rules but they get very smart students.

I'm not sure what list you're using but the first ones that pop up on google are terrible and have all kinds of nonsensical criteria that is misleading, like acceptance rate.

This ( LINK) is a realistic list based on:

Quality of Education
Alumni Employment Rank
Quality of Faculty
Research Performance Rank

(National Rank)(World Rank)

Texas (21)(33)
Vanderbilt (32)(53)
A&M (41)(74)
Florida (47)(86)
Georgia (73)(204)
Missouri (77)(217)

Florida, A&M, UTa, Vanderbilt, and Mizzou (not putting them in particular order)

Those are the only AAU schools to it's them and errbody else.

That being said, your career is what you make it. I'm relatively young, but the longer I work, the less weight I put on someone's traditional education history. And for some of the uber liberal schools, which happen to be heavily weighted towards the top in these rankings, I would argue it's actually a detriment at this point to hire a graduate unless they are STEM.

It's a nice little point to brag about in discussions like this, but outside of that it doesn't mean as much as it used to. Nor should it with some of the leaders we have at these institutions.
