My take is that OU skill positions are ready but whether you call it a reload or rebuild by Big 12 standards it’s a rebuild regardless of years in near future. Until the 2 and 3 deep lines on both sides of the ball fit the size and athleticism of the SEC lines it’s very very difficult to win enough games and the games that count to even get into the playoff conversation in a 4 team playoff format. It’s a given OUs competitive timeline is shorter than TUw for sure. Better coaching, talent, recruiting momentum, etc but will lag in the beginning building the required SEC lines. Not a conference in existence with the number of talented lineman and it’s really what separates the conference from others player wise. If the so called 8 or 12 team playoff structure gets in place at same time OU enters the league, then contender is possible sooner but as it stands not likely. Teams need to dismiss how well they competed historically against top SEC teams in meaningless bowl games. Not the same team when if playing for something that really matters. Welcome to the conference though.
