The difference this time around was the amount of boarded-up windows and completely removed signage. Tons of spots that are permanently closed.
It's not just the bars, either. There was more empty shop space than I've ever seen. Was also surprised to see Grilled Teriyaki is shut down for good.

It wouldn't surprise me if Harpootlian's sycophants either own properties in 5 Points and want the bars out so they can sell to a commercial developer, or they own properties in other parts of downtown where some bars might try and relocate. This entire thing reeks of cronyism.
