Odds that a potential OU/Texas move would take effect in 2022?

Would this be a next year thing or a few years from now?

Copied from Texas 247..
On 1310 The Ticket, the main sports radio station in Dallas, Corby Davidson, a big OU fan who knows a lot of people in the program, says the buyout of $76M (each for Texas and OU) will be paid, and both schools will be playing in the SEC for the 2022-23 season.

The big 12 only needs 6 teams for a vote to dissolve the grant of rights, if 4 more teams can find a P5 home I'm sure this thing gets resolved within a year and we're discussing OU and Texas SEC openers for Fall of 2023 at the latest.

ESPN will probably help them both pay their way out just to be able to kill the LHN w/quickness.

I hope so. Longhorn Network destroyed, pod scheduling, new road trips...can't wait.

No those other teams are going to wait and take the buyout $$$. Like the Big East did to West Virginia.

ESPN owes Texas $150-$200 million over the next 10 years for the LHN.. This will be worked out one way or the other..

LHN gets merged with SEC Network.. and then either becomes SEC 2.. or goes away..

Existing Big 12 members will get all money that they are owed.. If the Big 12 isn’t dissolved..

Texas & Oklahoma begin SEC play in the Fall of 2022 and everyone makes more money.. I would be shocked if it isn’t Fall 2022.

You've identified the key to the timing. If enough of the other 8 Big XII schools find a new landing place, then the league will dissolve earlier. However, that is not a sure thing. If the left behind 8 can't find new homes, they will hold Texas and OU to their agreement. $100 million for an early exit is not likely to sway them to move up the date of their execution.
