I'm telling you the truth, and there are many other people with similar knowledge and experience. I know you can't stand to be wrong, but you are. Saban was the target, even before talks of Shula being fired and before the media had a clue who the "targets" were or would be.
There had to be smokescreens for UA because Saban was the target and head coach of the Dolphins. Saban didn't want any possibility of leaks because of his relationship with Wayne Huizenga. Saban wanted out of the NFL, and talks with Mal we're happening with Saban's agent, but not directly with Saban, but Mal knew Saban was heavily interested the entire time.
Mal was pressured by PTB to offer Rich Rod, but it was against Mal's will, and Mal did everything he could to stop that deal from happening without outright sabotaging the thing, because he knew Saban was very interested but had to wait patiently for Saban because his team had a small chance at the playoffs and Saban didn't want it to get out at all that he wanted the job. In the end, the thing that almost stopped Saban from following his heart and leaving the NFL for Alabama was his relationship with Huizenga, but in the end Saban and Huizenga parted ways.

Meh, I think I'll believe Moore and the numerous others involved instead of a random Alabama poster whose source is, "Trust me bro."

Makes sense for the time, doesn't explain why everyone is still lying over a decade later.

This is the way it was. Believe it or not but this is what happened.
