I've never understood why the Aggies get stuck on this.

University of Arkansas is technically "The University of Arkansas - Fayetteville" since they've added campuses to the system.

Occasionally people who went to places like Arky State will point that out. Partially it is to imply that Arkansas is a university that primarily serves the NW corner of the state, and that the NW corner of the state "isn't really Arkansas".

I find none of the above to be insulting.





ETA: You will sometimes hear it referred to as the "University of Texas at Fayetteville" since our undergrad population is around 30% Texican at this point.

Its funny, but nothing I find offensive.
