You may be right, I know that DVH's another day at the office style has worked for us. Regardless, Vitello is a great coach.
If I were the Vols AD, and I am obviously not, I'd lock him into a long term contract and look into upgrading the facilities. I think Vitello has a shot at winning a Natty in baseball at Tennessee. I think the fan support would be there as well.

Lot of smoke around him getting a nice 7 figure deal at season’s end. He easily has enough pull with some major boosters to get whatever he desires salary wise.

These leaked a few days ago, and it definitely seems like upgrades are in the pipeline. He’s wanted expanded seating all the way down LF with a new weight room put in on site under them.

Obviously a lot of luck is involved as we’ve seen with DVH’s inability to win it, but at the very least Vitello will have enough talent on the roster to be in the discussion most years, and that’s all you can really ask for. He’s a relentless recruiter and has JUCO connections for days.
Don’t think fan support will be an issue as some have tried to depict either. Baseball is extremely popular in East TN, and we are top 5 in basketball attendance despite not being a ‘basketball school’. Would have no issues filling LNS every weekend.
