My son had the same issues when he was a senior at Garland High School. His school was the gifted and talented school for all the kids in the city. So he was competing against the best. His class rank was just outside the 10% and didn’t get any Texas offers. He had friends that were in the same situation and thay all had SAT scores from 1290-1500. LSU offered them all full tuition scholarships and books. Only meals and boarding wasn’t paid. At the time you only needed I believe a 1250 on the SAT to qualify for the scholarship. They all jump on that offer and now all are very successful people in the business world. Go for the scholarship money!
