HOlloway shot 32% from the field. Not sure how I feel about this transfer. Unless we fall flat on our faces I dont see him as a starter next year. Probably 50% chance right now sears returns.

Sears was an awful 3pt shooter as a freshman. Even worse than Holloway, and against MAC competition. Since then he's been a 40% guy on high volume. These are teenagers we're talking about. They can, and often do, get better.

You have 13 scholarships. There will be 8 guys who don’t start so not every transfer is coming in to be the focal point.

In fairness Sears Fg% as a freshman was 47% overall compared to Holloway at 32%. I am not real troubled by Holloway's low 3 point percentage, he is a better shooter than that. But a little troubled that he was pretty bad finishing everywhere else as well. I'm not going to sweat it though, we are so guard heavy if Sears returns that if Aden turns it around it will be a big bonus

He will get a lot more 3's and layup practice with Nate. He will be fine

Still need a big center from somewhere. Would love to get McNeely but doesn't seem likely.

You are probably right about that. Playing faster will likely help him. He has elite handles, but he looked very uncomfortable when the game was in the half court and really didn't appear to know what he was supposed to do. We hedge trapped him in Tuscaloosa everytime they set a high screen and he seemed really stumped. He may just need a different scheme

Omoruyi is supposedly visiting next weekend, assuming he doesn't commit to Georgetown between now and then. For what we need, he's probably the best available.

I really hate that Avila has so much loyalty to Schertz, who bounced at the first job offer he got. He's too good of a player for the A-10.

If we can land Omoruyi to go along with Sherrill I'm over committing and reserving hotel space in San Antonio for next April

It’s really hard to project. Out of HS he was projected as an elite jump shooter but not really elite finisher at the rim.

At Auburn, he started off solid from 3FG but once SEC started he bricked everything. Open jump shots, open layups, anything trying to get points. I’d almost argue it felt like he had the yips. He probably will get to 35-40% 3FG next year and be pretty meh driving to the rim (but that’s not his game)

Probably a bit of a physical wall, got worn down by the college competition. It gets a lot of freshmen contributors.

The other part is likely better scouting getting him off his spots. Getting better at finishing at the rim is going to be critical for him in Oats scheme and it will likely change how teams defend him as a shooter.

100%. Either that or exceptionally good at kicking it out on penetration. I think he has the potential to be a very good assist guy in a fast moving system where he isn't bogged down with half court sets.

We had 1 scholarship transfer out that never played a single minute for us. I’ll trade that for the potential of a guy who was seen as the number 15 player in the country last year. Let’s see what he can do on this side. If he’s bad he won’t be in the rotation often.

If we get a big who can contribute, do any of you see Nelson, if he returns, playing the 3 if we choose to go big? Maybe even Sherrell, Stevenson and Nelson on the court together. TIA

I doubt Oats would routinely deploy such a line up. I think the ideal spot for Grant is the 4 where he can operate in the high post, elbow, and wing sorta like Dirk.

I think he is going to have so many possible combinations at every spot with competent players, he will be able to play 2-3-4 almost interchangeably. Reid is probably the most skilled of any of them as a true prospect and he can play 2-3 as well.

We were pretty solid defensively two years ago with 7', 6'10, and 6'9. Nelson isn't Miller, but the possibility of a big lineup occasionally is intriguing. Especially against teams with a big front line. Help defense and double teams have the ability to influence strong post play. Question is, can we stay in front of guards when we switch the high ball screen, but we do gain rim protection. Will be fun to have the versatility to go big or small.

Yep. Miller is more like Durant and may actually develop to be the next KD in the NBA. You gotta have a special athlete to play big at 3 and not get exploited on defense.

I could see Oats doing it against particular matchups where the opponent's 3 is not much of an offensive threat.

Im still curious about Naas Cunningham. The more highlight tape I watch, the more I think he could be a really impactful player immediately. He isn't a great defender, but looks really skilled and coordinated for 6'7, good hands too.

I could def see Nelson spend some time at the 3. I see people wondering how he’d guard that position but…he doesn’t really guard 4s well either lol. I’d trust him more on the perimeter with his lanky arms to cause problems than in the post picking up 3 fouls inn12 minutes.
