Charlotte Observer (annoying pop ups to subscribe but you can hit the close option and read)

Jarin Stevenson spent two years as a top basketball prospect. Why he chose Alabama over UNC

After looking into his background a bit, this dude is like the UNC version of the handful of Finebaum callers who have college educations but are nevertheless Finebaum callers.

I didn't get a paywall. There's a subscription pop up but you can close it and keep reading.

Or you can always go into your Chrome settings and disable Java on websites that have paywalls.

I can't open it either because of my ad blocker. Had to open it a different browser.

This type of crap was expected this first year after the Miles thing. It looks like the coach/AD figured out how to handle the subject with prospects.
I expect it to not be much of an item going forward.

Alabama Basketball Newcomer Breakdown: Sam Walters (SI)

Part of a 5-man freshman class, Walters has a unique skillset that could help him find a place in the rotation quicker than many may expect.

Walters is going to be store brand Miller as a freshman and hopefully Vanilla Miller as a sophomore.

I don't even think that's a very bold prediction. He's got literally every single thing you want to see from a big wing who can hit 3s and play some point-forward.

I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s drafted after his freshman season

Me either, thus the "hopefully" qualification about his sophomore season. If he shoots 35+% from 3 and shows some ability to create for himself he's going to be on draft boards even if he comes off the bench all season. Big wings who can shoot and handle the ball are so rare that someone would likely be willing to take on the burden of developing him.

It's way too early to be screwing with me about players leaving after one year.

Just remember what a massive recruiting boon it is to have guys be 1-and-done. Especially guys like Clowney that didn't come in rated as elite prospects.

It's win-win when you get guys like that. If they're able to be 1-and done 1st rd picks, it's huge for recruiting to continue to be elite. If they stay for more years, they'll help you win more games in the present.

Yep. Recruits definitely notice that.

And he's not the only surprise 1 and done. Primo was a lottery pick who came off the bench. But with Clowney, I was glad we got 1 year of him being an elite player. Primo leaving felt like blue ba... Um, nevermind.

Oats system and his ability to explain to kids how the system will specifically help them reach the NBA has obviously taken firm grasp with kids in the elite amateur circles.

We're in the initial discussion for basically every shooter and/or stretch 4 in the country every year at this point. We don't get all of them but we're in the initial top 10 for more elite players than we've ever been before.
