Everybody serious about winning has some degree of cheating or rule bending going on. It isn’t as big of money as most people think about their hated rivals but also it isn’t as innocent as most people think about their beloved program. Also, you got to parse out the things from the NCAA that can generously be called “dumb bullshite” - contact rules, recruiting visit parameters w/r/t lodging, etc - and things that are just a reality of trying to force amateurism upon a multibillion dollar industry (so also “dumb bullshite” but much more systemic).
As for the clear elephant in the room:
I’d argue anyone trying to make the connection that Pruitt from Bama thus Saban does same thing are missing the mark. Every school in the SEC wants to have the NCAA skullfrick Alabama. If Alabama was as blatantly fricking up as Tennessee, Alabama would have 5 fewer national titles right now and probably on their third coach since Saban. Alabama’s either cheating bigger but smarter (frankly unsustainable without getting caught) or just cheating as much as everyone else and nobody wants to take a Mexican standoff and turn it into a shootout.
As for the clear elephant in the room:

Good point. There's obviously a trickle down of ancillary items to consider that aren't even related to straight-up cash.

bama just gets away with it......for some reason. You have had many players post pics with wads of cash after signing. You had Tom Albetar posting pics of players signing mounds of jerseys............for free. You have players driving the same make/model of vehicles. bama cheats with the best of them. You have for a long long time. It is what it is. ETA My uncle was Snake's best friend growing up. My Mom and Uncle grew up two doors down from Snake. It was going on then and it hasn't slowed up.
