Bowl games became irrelevant when everybody got to one. It used to be an accomplishment to play in a bowl and you would play a team you never usually got to play. Now you go to one every year unless you're terrible and you end up playing the same teams not that infrequently due to conference tie ins. Also, it was a chance you got to see players/teams you never got to see on TV because so little was televised. Now there is no mystique or mystery or anything because every game is on TV and there's a 24/7 news cycle. Throw in the recent fact that this generation of players don't even care anymore and you have the current sucky situation. It has zero to do with the playoff.

These players have a deep sense of who is getting rich, like no other generation. Bowl Games are a money grab and players know it. Bowls represent injury to NFL bound talent. And losing money that is finally in THEIR pockets.

I think these Bowl Games only remind the NFL players it's my turn to get paid, why risk it?
