Your take on the “direction” of the program is laughable.

Odom’s career was plagued by poor game day coaching, mediocre recruiting, and inability to get along with others creating high staff turnover.

The 2019 season was an unmitigated disaster...a team expected to finish near the top of the East, they started with an embarrassing loss at Wyoming. They then fought back to reach 5-1 and a top 25 ranking heading into Vanderbilt. They proceeded to lose as a ranked team to VANDERBILT (their only SEC win) in a game which was never really in doubt. This lead to a 5 game losing streak in which he lost the locker room and the team clearly mailed it in. (He at least took care of the annual “gimme” win against Arkansas to close the season)

Barry was the “safe” hire in 2016 to stabilize the program...he accomplished that. 2019 proved that he was not the guy to take us to the next level.

You could also say Odom's career as HC at Mizzou was plagued by cultural and recruiting issues form the previous regime as well as stadium teardown and NCAA investigation and sanctions that had nothing to do with him. Not to mention literal statewide hatred and apathy for Mizzou that again had nothing to do with him.

In 2019 he won a nationally broadcast recruiting battle for Kelly Bryant, which did wonders for race healing at a school that needed that media boost.

Tough-horrible unforeseen and unpredictable outcome as Bryant wasn't very good and ruined the team with his behavior off the field.

Anyone who was paying attention over those 4 years without contempt in their heart because they didn't get what the wanted in a coaching hire could easily see an overall upswing in all things Mizzou Football.
