2015: HC has a DUI on record, Lake of the Ozarks regular at party cove, staff as well, starting QB doing cocaine on game days, culture in disarray, race riots, poop swastika, system wide firings all the way up to MU system president.

2016: First year HC. Entire state of Missouri hates Mizzou. Lifelong fans and alumni vow to be done with the school forever. Roster made up of failed recruiting classes that looked good on signing day, but a drastic failure in getting the kids to campus cause roster issues.

2017: Most Missourians still hate Mizzou. Offense sets Mizzou and SEC passing records. Winning record: 7-6

2018: Stadium half torn down. Terrible fan experience. Most Missourians still not ready to support, stadium tear down gives excuse to stay away another year. Offense is high end. Winning record: 8-5

2019: NCAA investigation and sanctions pop up thanks to previous HC. Huge distraction just as things are turning positive. Transition year with nationally recruited QB transfer who failed miserably. 6-6. HC fired despite overall program upswing culturally.

2020: QB recruited by previous coach to lead his program is SEC FR of the year, LB he recruited and groomed is Butkus award finalist.

Mizzou doesn't have a strong core of fans that have a firm grasp of the real narrative of the program. Because of this lack of core false narratives can spread fast.

The truth is most Mizzou fans didn't get what they wanted in 2016, so they spent 4 years protesting and looking at the most negative angle on anything until they were able to get what they wanted - sound familiar to anything else in that same 2016-2020 4 year timeline? Yep.

So basically Odom kept the program afloat while digging out of a cultural dumpster fire.

Makes sense.

Your take on the “direction” of the program is laughable.

Odom’s career was plagued by poor game day coaching, mediocre recruiting, and inability to get along with others creating high staff turnover.

The 2019 season was an unmitigated disaster...a team expected to finish near the top of the East, they started with an embarrassing loss at Wyoming. They then fought back to reach 5-1 and a top 25 ranking heading into Vanderbilt. They proceeded to lose as a ranked team to VANDERBILT (their only SEC win) in a game which was never really in doubt. This lead to a 5 game losing streak in which he lost the locker room and the team clearly mailed it in. (He at least took care of the annual “gimme” win against Arkansas to close the season)

Barry was the “safe” hire in 2016 to stabilize the program...he accomplished that. 2019 proved that he was not the guy to take us to the next level.

Why are you trying to make Mizzou look bad?

The entire country hates Mizzou, not just the entire state of Missouri.

You can pee on a blind man’s leg and tell him it’s raining, but Mizzou fans can see because we actually watched every game.

We watched him get tight in games and his team play not to lose...which led them to fold like a blanket at the slightest tough break.

We watched him overplay guys who were clearly not as good as their backups ala Bryant over Bazelak when KB couldn’t throw a 5 yard out to save his life.

We watched him allow his players to have so little discipline that he’d never bench a kid after acting like a fool, from costly personal fouls like taunting to off field tweeting accusing your fanbase of possibly being racist because you aren’t showing up to games.

We watched Odom DESTROY our biggest strength - D-Line Zou by big timing coach Kul and in a single offseason take a bunch of bendy speed rushers and 100% go to a read and react DL which took us from near top to bottom of the SEC in sacks.

We watched Odom hire over their head coordinators like Cross and freaking Derek Dooley.

We watched him lose so many winnable games and ultimate pee away a first round NFL QB by refusing to slow down the tempo when every middle schooler knew that perhaps 30 second 3-outs aren’t great for your defense.

We saw him go all in on the recruiting pitch and marketing of the “MISSOURI 10” and put his identity on fencing in the boarders only to literally land NONE OF THEM!

We watched him get housed by Wyoming and our coached by Derek Mason!!

Your narrative is for the blind. Enjoy Arkansas. I hope Odom gets another shot and becomes who you dream he was.

Barry was .500 in 4 years where we averaged over 8 wins per year the decade prior. He was 13-19 in the SEC. He recruited only better than Vandy. Lost his team every single year except for Lock's Senior where he completely underachieved with Pinkels last good recruiting class going 8-5.

What he did do was keep our head above water as we found our next guy. That was his ceiling. Unfortunately for him, we expect more.

Favorite part was taking away credit from the current staff for players and their development while giving all credit to B.O. for things that G.P.s players did.

All Mizzou fans wanted B.O. to succeed. But his lack of preparation and failure to get teams with good talent to compete with their peers and beat lesser teams was mind boggling. Never beating KY, 1-3 vs USC, Losses to middle TN, Purdue & Wyoming. He often needed a burn the film rah rah speech to salvage a season losing at least 5 in a row 3 of his 4 seasons. Something that happened just once in Pinkels 15 seasons. And although it fell apart at the end for GP, he passed on a program that was head and shoulders above what he took over. He went to 10 bowls in his final 13 years. Mizzou had been to 2 bowls in the 17 years prior to GP.

I know facts and reasoning are often lost here, but Barry was just not a very good HC

Lol. The “star transfer” QB fricked the TE’s girlfriend and the team won one game after that, losing 5 games in a row.

Meanwhile, the Head coach begged the AD to fire him. The AD acquiesced.

In 2015 we had the opportunity to get MATT CAMPBELL from Toledo ala GP and MATT RHULE from Temple.

FACT-Both of those guys were in, and our inept AD with our inept admin that would be cleansed from the worst leadership in higher Ed history decided to play it safe out of fear because so many players threatened to leave if Odom was not hired.

The 2015 Missouri Tigers football program and admin were a case study in what happens when grown adults fear sophomoric college kids.
