Obviously there is no problem opting out of a game that will not affect your teams chances to win a natty or really your draft stock

Not so obvious if you listen to guys like Pollack and Matt Stinchcomb. Both first rd picks who played in "insignificant" bowls their senior years...Pollack called em quiters as did Stinchcomb.

I wouldn't go that far but guys like. Mark Webb? Tre McKitty? DJ Daniels? Ridiculous

As far as the "Texas" excuse,we lost because of our approach and attitude from our upperclassmen that year IMO. I believe we had close to the same amount of guys missing last year vs Baylor (more opt outs for sure)but were far more focused and ready to play.

Im saying obviously because as of now, with no penalty, who am I to hold it against someone playing in a game where we don’t really advance, and one play means the difference in millions of dollars for a guy. Just saying I get that aspect of it.

The real issue imo is the proliferation of the social media look at me generation. College upperclassmen have essentially grown up on social media and being incredibly self absorbed. People can blame the playoffs all they want, but if that was truly the case then why didn't we see this shite during the bcs era? From 98-13 there was literally only one bowl game that "mattered" but you never saw people quitting to train for an extra month. Big bowl games were still big and still meant something. All it took was fournette in 15 to quit on his team to start the trend now it's commonplace. These kids have grown up in an instant gratification society with no real sense of committment to anything. That's the problem, not the playoffs
