No team has benefitted more from the current format than Clemson, but I tend to agree. Who would have thought that expansion (a play-off with more teams directly competing for the championship) would have resulted in contraction (fewer teams consistently in position to compete)? Does further expansion to an eight team playoff help? It may increase the pool of participants to some degree, but it will be the same 10-12 teams rather than the same 6-8.

I really hate that the non-playoff bowls are becoming an afterthought.

I think it just gives more teams an opportunity to compete, with the end result of Alabama and Clemson steam rolling them. Doesn't really solve anything since there is still a lack of parity.

College football seems to have become a southern sport. No one outside of the south has been relevant (exception of Ohio State for a couple of years maybe) for almost 2 decades. Old rivalries have either been dissolved, or are no longer relevant due to the drop off of one/both of the teams. My days of watching college football (or pro) all day are over. There was a time I would have 2 or 3 TVs set up next to each other. Now that would be a recipe for falling asleep.
