You win some, you lose some. All the hipsters want to go to Gainesville these days

Straight Facts! We are the panhandle east!

Neither really scream city or country.
Yeah He was probably a little disappointed in Gainesville's downtown. In my opnion, Mullen is from outside Philly and Saban is from West Va. and that may have had more to do with it.

Is central Florida the big city?

I'm so country that I think Tuscaloosa is unbearably large.

Did he make these comments while standing on the sideline watching his team lose to LSU so he could be ready to go vs the country fellas ?
Bama gonna put a country nfl corner on his arse... draft stock bout to move down a spot or two

Lol. That is hardly "shade."
But, Tuscaloosa is kind of a 1-trick pony with not much going on but the University. And, it is country as frick in and around it and pure backwoods country just outside of it. Not that anything is wrong with any of that. In fact, it is kind of a compliment.
Gainesville is hardly any better and is right in line with the "redneck ghetto" class of cities across the South.
Either way, nothing to get anyone's panties in a wad about. He is likely more upset that he was under-recruited by Bama, which is a bit of a miss in hindsight given his development.

Are you suggesting that Moundville, Eutaw, Gordo, Reform, Aliceville, etc., aren't exemplars of cosmopolitan living?

They're all big city, multi-red light and dollar general towns compared to the townships and unincorporated locales in between that depend on the VFW and volunteer fire dept for local bingo entertainment and fish fries for a night out.

Plenty of Alabama fans aren’t “country boys.” I’m certainly not.

I used to have City of Aliceville as one of my accounts. What an armpit. Also Uniontown, Livingston and York. Thank God for promotions.

Except every square inch that surrounds it. Gainesville isn't that bad. My farm is about 30 minutes away from the stadium, unincorporated area outside a town of 1500. That's real gator country.

KingofDipShits - Comparing Tuscaloosa to Gainesville is like comparing Brewton, AL to Tampa, FL
Who are you trying to kid here.

Well, may have outkicked the coverage.. but decent in jest.

I've only been to Gainesville once, but I imagine once you get thirty miles out of town, it's just like the Panhandle. You're gonna have your equivalents of Crestview, Baker, Milton, DeFuniak Springs, etc.,
