Ole Miss basketball can scratch one need off its offseason checklist. The Rebels on Monday landed a commitment from Miami (Fla.) transfer Nysier Brooks. Brooks, who made the announcement on Instagram, started 25 of the 27 games in which he appeared last season and averaged 7.4 points and 5.8 rebounds. He was one of two Hurricanes to start 20 games or more. In all, he saw action in 130 games over his career, including 62 starts. He sat out last season after transferring from Cincinnati.

The 7-foot, 240-pound Brooks entered the transfer portal last week and has one year of eligibility remaining. He seemingly replaces Romello White, himself a one-year transfer from Arizona State. White, in his only Ole Miss season, set the single-season school record for field goal percentage. Brooks is the second spring addition so far, joining former Louisville signee Eric Van Heijden. Van Heijden, a forward, pledged to the Rebels two weeks ago.
