As far as the thread topic goes, I'd recommend checking out the subdivision off the south side of Shields Road, tucked under the hillside and close to Monte Sano. Very quiet, nice homes ~3k sq.ft.
Also there are nice newer subdivisions off Winchester close to the Walmart headed to New Market.

Welp. The whole damn city looks like it has high crime based on that neighborhood scout website. Maybe change of plans.
