What was Air Coryell running all those years with the Chargers? What offensive system was Dan Marino in for so over a decade?

Uh, not Air Raid

Air Raid per Hal Mumme is based on concepts from 3 offenses.
The BYU offense (Lavell Edwards) Mesh
The Run N Shoot (Mouse Davis) Choice / Divide
The West Coast Offense (Bill Walsh)

Mumme went to visit all of those coaches on occasion as well as others like Packers HC Lindy Infante (Smash) during his and Leach’s early stages of creating the offense we see today.

Hal will be the first to tell you he didn’t create anything, they just packaged plays together that they felt put vertical and horizontal strain on the defense then ran them at a frenetic pace to make the defense overreact and cause a big play

Not my point. We've always had excellent NFL teams that passed first in the scheme. They also had running games that allowed them to stay somewhat balanced. What I saw from Leach's scheme Saturday would get an NFL QB killed. It was far too one dimensional to ever keep the Kalia Macks and Aaron Donalds off the QB for 2 seconds. Frankly, vs Alabama, it certainly didn't do Costello any good either.
