I think we need the Pac 12 to revive, but that's going to fall on those universities and the West Coast culture as much as anything.
Otherwise, the country remains tilted towards the East.

Similar issues lie in the North; Ohio State, Penn State and Notre Dame are good. We need Michigan to come back, and would be nice to see one of Pitt/Boston College/Syracuse too.

As much as anything, I think the fix would be to break up the P5- seriously.
Those Northern schools I listed, plus others like Nebraska and Miami/Florida State- they're in 2 total conferences. Ohio State and Clemson dominate them, and there's an established pecking order that carries over in recruiting each year. Same thing happens to Arkansas.

Spread the teams around in more conferences, you get more room for someone to move up and take prominence.
