I'm not sure anything can save the game of football, college or pro. When it comes to college football, the universities themselves are their own worst enemy.
Here is what Alabama's 2019 schedule looked like:
Duke
New Mexico St.
Southern Miss
Western Carolina
8 conference games
That schedule was indicative of every top 10 school in the country.

You want to spark interest? Replace Duke, New Mexico, Southern Miss and W. Carolina with Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Clemson and one more conference game. Now you've got something worth watching.

There are only so many of those to go around.

Until it becomes more competitive... It's BLAH. Like I said, I don't even keep up with recruiting anymore because I know we are going to land a top class.

I agree...and I think they're realizing it. As a season ticket holder, I HATED the neutral site game trend. After Bama plays Miami in Atlanta next season, the ooc home/home scheduling starts looking much better with Texas, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, etc in the next decade.

Lower ticket prices and adopt the 9 conference game schedule. Then you have the big OOC matchup. After that I have no problem with a couple of breathers sprinkled in, but no more than 2.

That 2019 home schedule was absolute crap for season ticket holders.
