I actually think the 4 team playoff hurt it a little bit
They desperately need to go to 8 teams
I think it's a little bit of an anomaly with how good Clemson, Bama, Ohio St and Oklahoma have been.
It won't last forever.

SEC needs Saban to retire
ACC needs some teams to push Clemson and I do think the ACC teams are adding more talent
Big 10 needs Harbaugh to be more competitive with Ohio St

The biggest difference is the money being funneled into the ACC, SEC and Big 10 from their networks. It's making it a larger gulf where teams can't compete. The top tier is only getting more money and more facilities. Wait until they start paying them for image and likeness, that rift is going to be even bigger.
