This is no decline. 45-50 years ago it was Alabama, USC, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, and not much else.

Even in the SEC, we know.

No. Now in the seventies we knew. From 1971-79 we won the SEC 8 out of 9 years while hardly breaking a sweat. We lost only 3 conference games in 9 years. Only 4 wins in nine years...two over Tennessee and two over LSU...were by less than 10 points.

Georgia had one year in the seventies where everything came together for them. We were on decade long winning streaks against LSU and Tennessee. Florida was dog shite. Auburn was good early in the decade.

The SEC is far and away more competitive now.
