I have stated Gus’ attributes many times before. But at what point will his on-the-field product out weigh his off-the-field qualities? SEC teams are making moves to improve, and the old fossils (Saban) doesn’t appear to be letting up or slowing down. Auburn has to make a move sooner than later.

Agree. But it always comes back to who could do better. At this point I think we could find somebody who could do better (especially vs UGA), but we are worried about how much worse they could be too (think 2012).
I can’t think of any coaches we could hire that would be a slam dunk (and who would actually come) right now.
