The old excuse of “who could AU get better than Gus” continues to raise its head every single year.

And it still remains. As you’ve pointed out in the past, he runs a clean program, very few academic or discipline problems. His floor is really 6-7 wins in a regular season. Unfortunately I don’t ever see him matching what he did in 2013 anymore either.
A change is always a risk, but maybe even more so for replacing Gus.

You've got to get someone who can recruit the trenches.

Pruitt found that in Chaney (I'm not conceding credit to Friend).
Kirby found that in Pittman.
I dont know where it started with Bama but they beat UGA in the trenches in 2008 and now top rated OL is just business as usual.

I have stated Gus’ attributes many times before. But at what point will his on-the-field product out weigh his off-the-field qualities? SEC teams are making moves to improve, and the old fossils (Saban) doesn’t appear to be letting up or slowing down. Auburn has to make a move sooner than later.
