You obviously never played football. I played in the era when coaches held back on water.

Trying to suck enough air through a n95 mask to play ball is pissing in the wind.

Zero major conferences will do anything like that at all. Every one of them will comply totally and will cancel their seasons by the end of next week

If these colleges go from profiting $100m to losing money, you damn right they will start looking to do something on their own.

I think it would be great for everybody. NFL gets it's dev league without having to manage/pay for it. XFL gets its niche. Kids that have no interest in school and want to get the most out of their body while they can, can get paid. It returns college football closer to it's natural state of amateur athletics.
This.

Don't give me any bullshite about 'no one will watch CFB if the quality of play declines'. Let the XFL take the Vince Young types straight out of HS and pay them to improve their skills. Leave college football to actual college students.

That ship sailed a long time ago.

Not even the Ivy League has "normal" Ivy League students on their rosters.

The SEC, Big 10 and ACC can be like the Bundslinga league---feeding young talent to the Premiere League and La Liga. Colleges can buy/sell talent, etc.

This could work. NFL teams could take kids out of HS and have them sign to one of the farm league schools for two years or more. They sign a conditional bonus and get a small salary along with tuition while at the farm league school, and they take courses to prepare for their careers.

Other athletes can can still sign with colleges on normal scholarships, play sports, get paid for their likeness, and enter the draft.

This could work.

If make the scholarships transferable to local trade school if they wish, that's even better. Give them more options for learning skills.

Do you think their non-"normal" players would be sitting around this season not playing in their prime years with an XFL offering to pay them, with a outside shot at playing in the NFL?

That ship sailed back when CFB was flush with cash and the networks promising more.

Here's a live look at that ship right now:

What? I thought we were talking about "actual college students" playing?

CFB was flush with cash last and will be again once things are back to normal. I o you really think one season disrupted is gonna be the death of CFB? Are you nuts?

Do you know how much money the streaming services are gonna pay for TV rights in the future? It's gonna dwarf the current deals. Amazon,Google and FB are all each worth more than ABC,NBC,CBS and ESPN combined.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Ivy League doesn't grant athletic scholarships.
