I hate to say it but this does make sense to me as a measure to try to hold on to a season. Eliminating the non conference games means vastly reducing the the number second hand contacts that the players will have to risk. Also it means the teams are being exposed to the safety standards of only the one conference. They will not need to trust other conferences are acting with the same level of concern.

Of course I assume they will skip out on the opportunity to have a 12 game conference schedule. Apart from the 5-10 big team non conference games in a given year, a 12 game conference schedule would be amazing to watch.

The whole thing is ridiculous. If we're all going to get it, wtf do we disrupt our lives at the same time.
