Comparing a great team from decades ago to any team today is a waste of time. But, the 2017 Georgia team might just have given the 2019 LSU team fits. Georgia would surely have matched LSU score for score. A turnover would likely have decided the game.

Not really tbh. The game was hardly ever in question. I haven’t watched a replay in awhile, but Bama never had the ball with a chance to take the lead except for maybe a couple of drives in the second half if I remember right.

Not at all.

After the Tua fumble on the opening drive, the Alabama offense could only muster 5 total yards when the game was within 1 possession.

We were really rooting for them to recover just to see them turn it over or give the ball back after 4 failed plays, since that was the trend.

Hard to think any defense or offense separated by 20 years of better nutrition and workout programs would fair very well.

I’d be more interested in seeing LSUs 19’ offense vs Bama’s 11’ 12’ Defense

As mentioned, this is a subject of eternal debate amongst Bama fans that will likely never be settled due to the plethora of options.

It’s also difficult to settle because in terms of pure talent I think the 2010/2011/2016 Bama teams are on top even though only 2011 won the championship. Schemes and athleticism have evolved as well.

IMO the best overall is 2012 Bama, and I think they’d probably have beaten 2019 LSU by a TD at home.

Dude, they stuffed it down our throat with najee pretty much the whole second half.

They did have to complete some tough passes on 4th down to stay alive though

The Lsu team that played the final 5 games last year was pretty much as good as any team for any stretch of time ever

Are we assuming that the teams in question had the same talent but had the benefits of modern training and nutrition? Because if that is the case than LSU 2019 is one of the greatest teams of all time but they would have their hands full with all time great teams from around the conference.

Because if 2019 LSU played a middle of the pack SEC team 50 years from now they would probably get skull dragged and bent over.

You judge a team by the time they are from. Was 2019 LSU better than, in their time, the 1899 Sewanee Tigers team that went undefeated at 12-0, played 11 conference games, and won 5 games in 6 days... shutting out each opponent. Including a 34-0 demolition of LSU.

Enjoy having one of the best of all time teams. Don't try to shite on other great teams from other eras just because you have a very small penis.

DUDE, they weren't even the best team in 2017, how in the hell can you say they could compete with any team of a different year. Maybe UGA should worry about winning a title first before trying to say you could beat teams of other years.

I would have loved to see 1999 FSU and 2013 FSU line up against LSU.

A healthy 2019 Alabama team beats 2019 LSU by 2 touchdowns, so there is that.

Stop being so insecure, LSU won the title, by barely beating Alabama and Auburn.

LOL. Everyone on the losIng teams always win the “what if” version. Do you really think Auburn could have hung with LSU on a dry field? Even in the game, Auburn got lucky with a muffed punt. LSU chose to forego a couple of chip shot FGs because they knew Auburn was vey unlikely to move the ball.

Alabama’s defense couldn’t stop LSU, and there was nothing that Tua did or didn’t do that would have been substantially different. Alabama had two scores or freak plays, the punt return that would not have been a TD without the face mask and a distracted Stingley. LSU’s defense wasn’t 100 % in that game either. Bottom line, LSU was just the better team this year.

I was just answering the question. 2019 LSU football team was a good one, but Alabama lost by 5 and Auburn lost by 3. A great team does not have such close games.

And how much do you think they would lose by to 2019 LSU?

Oh dear braggadocio...... Let's limit "bragging" to cases like these: people who brag about actual accomplishments. People who have gotten to a point they hoped for. They are delighted with their success. They are revelling in it. It must be exciting. One funny line about anyone who brags about their wealth, for example, is that "well, it's new to them."

What position did you play for LSU last season ? TIA

Sure they do. There are other good teams which is why great teams are great when they win over good competition. If the competition isn’t good, the the great team isn’t that great because they have only beaten mediocre competition, and one never really knows how good they really are. That is what the beef has been with Clemson. They have no in conference competition so it hard to gage if they are great or merely a really good team. LSU seems to be a consensus top 3 three team all time. I would say that is a pretty good sign of a great team.
