The other segregationist senators did not bail on the Democrat party. Strom was the only one. It was Democrats including Al Gore's father that filibustered the CIvil Rights Act.
trying to link 'the south' to racism rather than the Democratic party is the standard trick Democrats use.
They still use the Democratic Party name despite it being Tillman, Strom, etc party.
