If Saban doesnt "rely on assistants", how did Jimbo, Muschamp, Kirby, Pruitt, and the others get hired as head coaches, especially if they weren't doing anything?
Saban hired Kiffin to bring in some new offense and hired Sark (twice!) to do the same.
Alabama also hasnt been able to win a championship without Pruitt or Kirby under Saban.
Saban relies on assistants as much as anyone, he's very good at identifying good ones too.
Meyer had Ryan Day, Tom Herman, and Dan Mullen just off the top of my head.
Any successful college football head coach in this day and time relies on assistants.
You just named off multiple coordinators those coaches had success with.
When you mention O and Chizik you can only name 1 coordinator they had success with. When Gus left, so did the success. It remains to be seen with LSU as I mentioned in my first post.
I'm not sure why you seem to have trouble understanding the difference.

LSU went 10-3 in Orgeron's second season without Brady and the deck stacked against them (offensively).
