Some people are calling on the University of Kentucky to take action after two videos on social media show a Kentucky fan calling a Tennessee fan a racial slur. The woman in the video has issued a statement regarding her actions and admitted to using the word.

quote:

Tennessee fan Ethan Williams says he started recording a video of UK fans leaving before the game was over. He says he started yelling out things from his seat, asking why they were leaving and laughing about it. That's when he says a woman walking out stopped next to his row and called him a racial slur.

quote:

After LEX 18 posted the video, a woman identifying herself as Ashley Lyles issued an apology for her behavior. “My reaction after the game was unacceptable, period. It was against all values of the University and state of Kentucky. I humbly apologize to the individuals at which my words were directed," writes Lyles, "My words were hurtful and hateful and have no place in this world. I apologize to the University and state of Kentucky for the embarrassment I have caused. I want my apology not just to be in words, but in actions moving forward.”

We all have racists.

Yikes and apparently she was the same person they wrote an inspiring story about related to surviving cancer a few years ago. Talk about a fall from grace. Gross.

It's never cool to drop the n-bomb like that. That should've been an interaction where she responded with something surly and bitched about it with her friends afterwards. That was low level fan to fan teasing and typically part of the fun of attending games but her response turned it into something else completely.

Enjoy the future, being held accountable for the actions of .01% of what can be 10,000 to 100,000 drunk fans in attendance.

It's a horrible thing to say, but humans do stupid things all the time.

A real shame that adults don’t know how to act when in defeat. Especially considering this circumstance relies off the result of 18-22 yr olds playing a game. Not that it needs to be said but she does not reflect us Kentucky fans in any way, shape, or form. I read that the Uk program is deciding what actions to take so there will be consequences for her actions

Not defending the UK fan, but the Tennessee fan was being a complete a-hole. If you have a bad time at another team's stadium, look in the mirror.

It's a low class and very rude thing to do, but no "action" needs to be taken, someone was called a mean name, the earth didn't shatter.

In this day in age you have to realize certain words are simply unacceptable, and if you choose to use them anyway, I have no problem you suffering the consequences - your a goddamn idiot. It’s the society version of a DUI - you didn’t mean to hurt anyone but your a fricking idiot for doing it in this day in age.

With that said, I do take major issue with these frickers who video their antagonizing efforts and then when they get a non PC backlash they make a public outrage out of it.

1. No excuse to act like a racist shite.

2. Also, the UT fan in that video was acting like a complete jackass
