Was there any warning? We got a little wind here in East Tennessee but nothing like that.

Yeah, there were several bands that come through last night, the first warnings coming around 7:30 last night. I'm not sure people were prepared for just how bad at got but there was ample notice bad storms were headed that way with the chances of tornadoes. Fortunately my wife and I live south of where all the tornadoes hit, and even more fortunate none of my friends who live right by where they touched down in East Nashville were personally affected. Really scary stuff. Donelson Christian Academy was flattened, a pretty popular music venue and small airport was destroyed, among countless other buildings. The affected area looks like a war zone.

Out in Putnam County the tornado hit at 2am. A lot of people were asleep. City of Cookeville had their sirens blaring, but out in the county you don't get them. The small town of Baxter got hit the worst in this storm. The tornado stayed on the ground for a long while and there were multiple casualties. There are still up to 60 people missing that have not been accounted for including small kids. Some will be found in the rubble. My understanding is that I-40 is still closed.

The upside is the community is really responding. Multiple posts on Facebook of people offering their services for free to help. There are over 100 people outside my window in line to donate blood.

I don't know about Farragut but I'm just NE of Knoxville and we got an insane storm around 5 AM. Nothing touched down but I remember thinking it was ripe for a tornado and that was before all hell broke loose. At the time, I didn't know they had already happened in Nashville and Cookeville. I think East, TN dodged a bigger bullet than we might realize (thank God).

Everyone is talking about Nashville but Cookeville is just shredded. They aren't a very big town and I'm afraid they're going to get forgotten in all this despite suffering the worst of this.

Didn't get the usual warning this time. The meteorologist that I spoke to said it was like the rain enveloped the nasty stuff, so the radar didn't show it to be as severe as it was. The path was fairly tight in Nashville but it broadened and did some major damage in Mt Juliet and East of there.
