We should be improved at the plate but we just don’t have enough quality arms. I’m excited about some of the commitments we have that are seniors in HS. We’ve got some kids coming that should fall just outside of that range where they typically take the contract.

Bohannon has got to do a better job of recruiting in State pitchers though. There are Alabama kids going all over the SEC to pitch except for Tuscaloosa

Ole Miss has an absolute gauntlet of a schedule this season. Open up against Louisville and then draw Florida, Georgia, and Vanderbilt from the East. We also just lost one of our best relief pitchers for the season which is gonna hurt badly. My hope is to make some noise in a regional and setup next season for a postseason run.

Didn’t Auburn lose some key pieces of their rotation?

0 of our end of season weekend guys. Only lost 2 pieces of our bullpen, but we relied heavily on freshman last year.

Auburn really only lost Julian, Holland, Daniel, and Anderson.

lulz .... you SEC west figs are something else.

Quick question.

Does the SEC adhere to a interdivisional schedule when it comes to baseball?

I'll wait.

Will MSU ever win the big prize in NCAA baseball? Because it never fails ... MSU fans start threads like this and bump it for days claiming to be baseball royalty. Happens every preseason, never fails.

Our pitching should be incredible until arm soreness. We have guys like Eric Walker and Ma'Khail Hilliard starting midweek games.

The moment Mainieri announces one of our guys are suffering from “arm soreness,” I’m chalking it up as though said pitcher has disappeared from this universe, and never existed.

I refuse to go through the thought process of “just wait until ::insert sore arm pitcher here:: comes back” this year.

Bring in a great LHP in Hayden
Mullins that I expect to contribute early. Butch definitely gets these guys contributing early.

Stop me if you've heard this before, but A&M will have the arms but probably not the bats. Unless the lineup takes a major step forward on offense, I just don't see them being able to grind it out over conference play
That's certainly the question for A&M. Pitching looks as good as ever. Hitting, last year, was as bad as ever. Can we get the hitting at least up to mediocre (from putrid)? That's the question.

State's problem this year is catcher

Not even close. Hancock will be good, but it's hard to fill Skelton's shoes after last year. Outfield will struggle defensively. That, along with a young pen, is what concerns me most.

But hey credit to yall for being hyped up about this early season baseball. I just could care less about Maine or Youngstown State when MSU Basketball has crucial games.

Are they on at the same time? Why is this mutually exclusive? Personally I love having home basketball and baseball games on the same day and spending 5 hours watching it

We're kinda in the same boat as the OP mentioned, loaded with hitters but some question marks with pitching. We return our Saturday and Sunday starters from last year and they each move up a day, but losing Isaiah Campbell is big and we'll start a true freshman on Sundays. Also lost Cronin our closer but do return 2 bullpen arms in Ramage and Kopps. We'll probably cycle through a ton of young arms early in the season trying to find who we can trust outside of those two.

Losing Campbell and Cronin is tough, but just two pitchers off a CWS team.

Hopefully some of the new guys are ready and our offense should be good again.

It's anybodies guess who takes the SEC this year, this league is ridiculous.

It is as loaded as it has ever been. It will boil down to who gets the most lucky with injuries, IMO. There are four teams who could easily win the West.

Of course not, but as long as there are still two divisions then it doesn't matter.

How dors the East stack up this season? I know Vandy and UGA will be really good again. UF, SCAR, UT, and Kentucky are a mystery to me. Mizzou....well, at least they can root for the Cardinals.

West should have 4 really good teams in MSU, LSU, Auburn, and Arkansas. Aggy and Ole Miss are kind of question marks and Bama seems to just not care.

Found this graph on twitter, pretty awesome summary even if the pitching hierarchy may be a little off for us: LINK
