Complementary colors
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Complementary colors are pairs of colors which, when placed next to each other, create the strongest contrast for those two colors. Complementary colors may also be called "opposite colors." They are the most visually stimulating when used together.

Which pairs of colors are considered complementary depends on the color theory one uses:

In the traditional RYB color model, the complementary color pairs are red–green, yellow–purple, and blue–orange.
Opponent process theory suggests that the most contrasting color pairs are red–green, and blue–yellow.

Orange & blue have NEVER been a combo that looks good...no matter what team/sport.

You're just saying this because you hate Auburn and Florida. You're wrong.

Dark navy and a dark accent orange are a great combo.

Here's good authority that LSU's colors and uniforms are best:

from the movie, Lucky Logan, (2017):

"My husband, the Major, when he was still alive, he loved LSU football. Whenever they'd show the games here local, we'd watch. 'Course, for me it was all about the uniforms. Their jerseys are the most striking shade of purple. Purple. Yes, purple. And gold. Royal colors."

Scene from the hair salon, set in a rural Alabama town.

colors that sit across from each other on the Wheel and stand out as visually appealing when used together.

Your link literally says the opposite:

quote:

"Green and Red, Blue and Orange, Yellow and Purple: each color is enhanced by the closeness of its “opposite.”

How does this apply to artists? Well, just because they’re called complementary doesn’t mean you should necessarily use them right next to each other at full strength. That can be rather garish.

and
quote:

Analogous Colors (or Adjacent Colors).

Like it sounds, these are three colors that go well together simply because they’re next to each other on the color wheel.

Besides, I thought Red, Green and Blue were the 3 primary colors.

Whatever they are they are the colors of the current national champions. They also tie in to the history and cultural traditions of Louisiana, two of the three colors that represent Mardi Gras.

Tennessee is easily the worst . The orange is horrible plus you can’t read the names or numbers on the back of the jerseys. UT’s orange and gray baseball uniforms are particularly hideous. Talk about Oregon ugly . That is how bad they are.

Alabama colors are faded maroon

Maroon And White are the best. Of course at State, I don’t even recognize our men’s basketball team anymore. I had no idea that our colors were now gray and blac

You cant read the names on the back of Tennessee's jersey's? What about it is so difficult for you to read? Its not like the jerseys are orange and the names and numbers are a slightly lighter shade of orange.

Auburn and LSU colors just pop off the uniform.
All the red teams are boring.
Florida is ok but a little too bright.
Kentucky is ok.
Tennessee is really hard to look at.
