D1Baseball came out with its preseason rankings today and have Vandy as the No. 2 team behind Louisville and the Fighting Detmers.
Our pitching staff is insanely talented this year, headlined by Hickman's bonkers K/9 rate (12.09) and 2.05 ERA. His steady 86-90 fastball but with excellent control propelled this team to an incredible Game 3 victory over Michigan last summer. Of course, our No. 2 in the rotation is none other than Kumar Rocker, who is better than the ace of most teams in the country and pitched a sub-1.00 ERA in his four NCAA tournament appearances. Rocker's no-hitter against Duke will never be forgotten by Vandy fans. After those two, Corbin has an abundance of arms that can take the Sunday spot, including Brown, Leiter, and Eder.
On the offensive side, the potential 1:1 pick in Austin Martin will likely top the line-up for average and for power. Unfortunately, 3rd base is a bit of a question mark with the loss of Jayson Gonzales's power bat for the season, but it is said that Martin will get the start there, allowing Keegan, Davis, and potentially Kolwyck to get time in the outfield. You have to think Martin will eventually find his way to the outfield or short when younger bats get more time in the mid-week to shine at third.

Likewise! Hickman v. Ginn should be a duel for the ages.

Just one day until the national championship re-match. Very interested to see how the line-up looks.

Two blown saves by Tyler Brown in a single weekend. That’s no good, but his stuff was good. Should recover next time.

Yes, this year looks especially deep given the early results so far for the new guys!
