This topic has been covered plenty on the rant and other message boards, but I feel after the bowl game that it could be revisited.

We have been spoiled as a fan base for this past decade. Dan Mullen took us to levels we hadn’t been to before, and, by the looks of it, won’t be back at for a very long time.

Everyone says that Moorhead is a players coach. Don’t misunderstand, I don’t think that it is a bad thing to be that. My concern with it though comes from a “this team is soft” standpoint. We used to have the reputation of less talent, more physical. Teams would be limping off the field after playing us, whether they won or not. I don’t know whether it is the S&C coaches fault or what, but something has got to change. I miss the fire that Dan had on the sidelines at all times, whether we were winning or losing.

Everyone was talking about the fight between Gay and Shrader last week. My thoughts are somewhat unclear on the topic, so I’ll leave it at this. Moorhead has lost control and the respect of this team.

I don’t know what the future holds for Mississippi State football, but it is not good right now. I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts after the bowl game and projections for our future.

I've been a state fan for a very long time. When I was in school, the students were actually throwing their cowbells at the team from the stands. I'm serious. So, I've seen the worst. We are only as good as the school will support. The support has never been good enough to win year in year out with consistency. Small school in a small state? The only school with a smaller student body is Vandy. Medium income per household....Ms. dead last. So, lots of things that can effect overall programs. The future of state football is perhaps better than the history, but not by much.

Agreed

The only thing Merlins didn’t do was take us back to Atlanta but damn it we had a swagger to us that made us almost always be competitive especially against teams we should be. Yesterday looked like dogshit, complete and utter dogshit. It’s not to late to change the course and make a move on someone I just don’t know who to go after at this point. With the NFL making some big moves this week it could open up some staff options but do we have the balls to do it. Cohen really f’d up with the contract after the eggbowl. I’m sure our recruiting is going to suck arse worse now as well.

Joe needs to look at LSU and get over his “yankee arse” and give play calling to someone else because it sucks right now. KT should’ve been our QB and he f’d that up. The team wanted KT so I’m sure he lost some respect on that which has put Schrader in a bad spot. Sure he got some good reps but shite we had one of the most successful backup QB’s in the country ready to go only to bail on him for transfer arse who kept standing like a statue and getting hurt. I’m done with football until he’s gone or at least admits his mistakes. All in on baseball now so F it

“this team is soft”

I posted that after the Kstate game. There was no excuse for them, a Big 12 school, to come to Starkvegas and be more physical than us. It was pitiful. Our Oline digressed this year big time with basically veterans.

Won't be as long if our AD made the correct decisions and fired the idiot running our football program. (not his program)

Definitely correct here. The problem is there is a difference between a players coach and letting the inmates run the asylum as the saying goes. Moorhead doesn't hold anyone accountable, especially himself. He's a narcissist who believes he is infallible and does no wrong.

This culture is soft and it starts at the top. I was told some great advice within the last few years that made me question my own coaching. "What you allow, you encourage". And it's obvious to me that Moorhead encourages a lot.

We are in for some dark years ahead. For all the folks screaming about well at least he's not Croom...... we will be there soon enough.
