2. Rarely, that I can recall, that this site goes down.

3. Rarely, do you see speed issues.

This isn't true. The Rant has these two issues more than any other site I go to. That's just a fact. This is due to it being an old, server-side framework with cheap servers. If it was front-end, they could use those same cheap servers and this wouldn't happen (with the amount of traffic this site gets).

My only point was there are plenty of modern forums out there that use modern technology and they operate and feel a lot better than this site.

This includes features like:
1. Notifications
- on The Rant, we don't know when someone has replied to us, we have to go look and see -
this is very old.
2. Live updates via WebSockets protocol
- most modern forums insert posts on the fly, you don't have to reload the page.
3. Front-end frameworks (which is much faster)
4. Actual profiles
5. The list goes one but I'm tired of talking about it...

I used to go to all kinds of forums when i was younger, but now, this is one of the last one’s i go to. This and operationsports. Love the old school feel. Please don’t change it.

Operationsports has a Tapatalk app and i hate it. Hope they never abandon their website. It’s hard to keep up with stuff on those Tapatalk apps.

Message boards are dying though. Not many left like this one or operationsports, where people still frequent it a lot. Seems like when imdb took away their message board, message boards started dying.

Like I said. Hope it never changes. Just way too clean and easy.

I'm not sure what is considered acceptable by today's standards. I do know my standards, and site's stability its acceptable to me. I'm on here off and on, everyday. I could be mistaken, but I only remember the site going down 2-3 times in 2019 (which could be borderline high). Since we dont know why, I'm not going to point at the framework, because some of those "could be" normal hardware failure. Most hardware failure is unavoidable, and gets a pass from me.
In 2018, I dont recall it going down at all. If it did, it wasnt when I was trying to get on. For that reason, I used "rarely", instead of never or always. I dont disagree that it goes down more than the newer, modern sites, because I'm not on those as often as this one.

The beauty about this site, as others mentioned, is the simplicity to navigate and the super clean format of all the different forums. It's a give and take. Keeping it classic and easy, without the bells & whistles a modern framework would give, is a good tradeoff for my taste.

My only complaint is the extra steps required to post pics.

I understand where you're coming from, bro.
You make some good points, especially notifications. I turn it off on most all sites to avoid the email clutter.

This is the cleanest, best laid out, sports affiliated, non-subscription based message board on the internet, period. This is not supposed to be facebook or twitter with notifications and profiles.
