This site uses old web technology. Like 10-15 years old. It's nowhere near modern. Trust me, this is what I do for a living.

Look at the URL, you'll see ".aspx"

.aspx is a Microsoft server-side web framework called ASP.NET MVC. It's very old and not commonly used today. Most modern websites use a client-side javascript framework (Angular, React, etc.) - which is what I use.

ETA: I'm not positive because there's no sure way to tell, but I think the forum aspects of this site are from an old 3rd party library that used to be common - meaning it wasn't even designed or developed by whomever created this site. I don't know that for sure though.

Just a couple observations -

First, let me say that I've been out of the technology field for a while. A long while. But, one of the things that has always stuck with me from those days are:

1. If the shite is working, and it's stable, and it's doing what you want it to do, and you (owner) can support it, why change it??

2. Rarely, that I can recall, that this site goes down.

3. Rarely, do you see speed issues.

4. The users, including me, LOVE the format.

5. I have never found any other sports forum site that's as easy to navigate.

6. The fact that the forum aspects of the site may or may not be from an old 3rd party library that wasnt designed or developed by Chicken & crew - who gives a frick?? Its stable and it works. It sure as frick must be easy to support, with or without, the 3rd party because the shite never goes down. frick even though I self-contracted the build of my personal home, I didnt go cut down the trees to mill my own lumber. I found, like the majority of others, it makes more sense to purchase it from a 3rd party. lumberyard.

I guess my point is, for a sports forum site, besides having a bunch of active members to contribute, the most important thing is to make sure that when users login they experience zero issues and the site always is up and running flawlessly 24x7.

Did I mention that its free??? Or, its value on the open market??

Not trying to be a dick, but if it's so antiquated, it has something that drew you to it.

Everyday, when chicken wakes up and puts his feet on the floor, he's hitting a homerun with this site.

This isn't true. The Rant has these two issues more than any other site I go to. That's just a fact. This is due to it being an old, server-side framework with cheap servers. If it was front-end, they could use those same cheap servers and this wouldn't happen (with the amount of traffic this site gets).

My only point was there are plenty of modern forums out there that use modern technology and they operate and feel a lot better than this site.

This includes features like:
1. Notifications
- on The Rant, we don't know when someone has replied to us, we have to go look and see -
this is very old.
2. Live updates via WebSockets protocol
- most modern forums insert posts on the fly, you don't have to reload the page.
3. Front-end frameworks (which is much faster)
4. Actual profiles
5. The list goes one but I'm tired of talking about it...
