Artery of the ligamentum teres is always torn on hip dislocation. Avascular necrosis of the femoral head is only avoided if the collateral supply is adequate to keep it alive. Otherwise you end up like Bo.

True story...my son comes into my bedroom ~2 weeks ago and said that he had dislocated his shoulder. I’m asking him WTF he did and his story made no sense. Wife walks into our room and starts giving me shite because I didn’t immediately jump up and help him.

Turns out that his humerus was broken ~3-4” below the shoulder. It was a complete break and complete bone separation. He was convinced that his shoulder was dislocated and I had no reason to doubt him. I was a few seconds from attempting to get his dislocated shoulder back into place but didn’t.

Seeing the X-ray was shocking.
