His return skills will be diminished when teams quit punting to him. That’s why IMO punt returners are not the end all be all. I just want someone who will catch it every time and make smart decisions. I know coaches even Saban pit great athletes back there but teams will just kick away from them.

Eventually, yeah. But just by watching the fluidity of his athleticism, it was clear he is elite.

That’s true. But sometimes in a big game all it takes is one great return to flip field position..

This usually leads to better field position either way.

Well if there is one thing we can count on, it's a Bama kicker slipping up and kicking it the wrong direction. Curse of Tiffin's dog is still getting revenge.

Bama returned 17 punts last year and 38 the year before, I'd still much rather have someone back there who can make a play than just call a fair catch. Stingley got more than half as many punt return yardage 1 game this year as we did all last season as a team.

If they always kick it short or away and out of bounds thata usually a big win for a punt returner. You're helping the team out still as someone they avoid.
