Why throw when you can hand it off and get 10 yards a carry

I was going to start a separate "Overreaction Sunday" post but here seems as good as any for now...

If I have any concerns about what we saw in the game (keep in mind this is already acknowledging that it's one game and likely an overreaction to a small sample size), it's this mentality continuing to pervade our offensive identity.

We already knew that we could more or less run at will on Vandy... The game was sufficiently in control. I'd have liked to see us at least take some more of the second and short plays and challenge Fromm to build some chemistry with these young receivers. Sure it's Vandy, and not a super high caliber defense, but it's better in game defensive talent than we're likely to see in the next two weeks and I'd like to see us try to get these receivers working hard on game situations before we end up playing a team that requires it... Not sure if that's Notre Dame but it's a decent enough guess...

There was a lot to be pleased about, but if I've got doubts it's more in the "how will we play with the lead" arena... 21-0 or 21-3 is not "call off the dogs territory" against any team with a pulse...
