I was just watching a side-by-side of Arik Gilbert and Darnell Washington running routes - there is no comparision. Gilbert is much faster and more fluid with moves and Change of Direction(COD).

I understand Washington is a few inches taller and 15lbs heavier. Not sure what Gilbert's vert is but DW's only 31". Would much rather have Gilbert - don't get those that try to claim these two are interchangeable - they are not.

Yeah, I've posted about Gilbert being quicker, more fluid and athletic in our recruiting thread. Their testing numbers are vey close except Gilbert's verticle is better. Bama prefers Gilbert over Washington, in part because they want and need a flex TE/bigWR type more than an in-line TE type. Bama tends to opt more for quick-twitch over size for their WRs combined with a flex TE.

It appears to me that Washington is a better fit for how UGA (Kirby) apparently likes to use TEs vs WRs. Kirby said something to the effect that he genetally prefers his QB to target guys who can do the most after the catch. A big WR like George Pickens fits the bill of being as much, if not more, of a matchup problem and big play threat than most flex tight ends.

It appears Kirby is wanting one in-line type TE (Washington) and one flex type (Gilbert or Theo). Since it also appears UGA is in a very good spot with DW and Gilbert is trending away from UGA and supposedly isn't keen on being on the same team with DW, I suppose UGA will press even harder for Theo. We'll see.

Surge you going to get yourself fired .

That word always makes me think of the Bill Burr skit about the sports commentator ruin his career.

Is it just me or am I the only one that thinks Washington might end up at defensive end before his collegiate career is over? Maybe I'm just reading too much into his measurables but I wonder if who every gets him doesn't ask him to cross train some there to see what he looks like.
