in situational drills he just threw right at covered guys, forcing it

Sure but during situationals the 1s gave every QB the business except maybe Buchner

Burton was fine but didn’t stand out like at all.

Pretty accurate I think Ty had more mess ups but Buchner seemed to do better than everyone.

No we have a lot of good things. QB and receivers is up in the air.

These QBs. SMH. The upperclassmen are too inconsistent.

If the stats included the dropped TDs and yardage for the QBs I bet people would be feeling differently about how things went for the passers today.

I’m not suggesting we have a Tua/Mac/BY level guy on the roster, but you start adding in huge chunk plays and multiple dropped TDs and the day is a lot easier to digest given the quality of the 1st string secondary and pass rush.

At some point we are going to need some accountability at the WR position. Either we have somehow misevaluated what is probably the highest ranked group of WRs at any school in the country or for the 2nd year in a row we have a development problem at that position. The freshmen weren’t the ones dropping the ball out there and that’s a major problem that does not reflect well on our position coach.

I’m more worried about WR like you said. Way too many drops.

QBS I’m less concerned about but could see an issue rising at some point. I think we play the safer player and at least don’t let turnovers or forcing the ball kill us.

Boz, thanks for the updates. Personally, I think the QB position will work out. I went with a South Carolina buddy to SC-ND bowl in Jacksonville. Buchner is a gamer.

He had a good day today. He goes through his checks quickly and gets the ball out. Maybe he isn’t the best passer of the group but he seems to make good decisions and doesn’t panic.

Milroe did seem chill he didn’t jail break the pocket but a few times. Few bad throws but we know he can run.

I’m fine with someone who has minimal turnovers and gets the ball out.

Can be a lot different when you take the no contact jersey off.

The WR group execution as whole has been unacceptable for almost 2 years.

If you play for Alabama, you should catch any and every ball that hits you in the hands.

These guys needs to be taken 200+ reps off a jugs machine set at 150 mph. Every frickin day.

Then ratchet up the difficult on a regular basis. Wet their hands and the balls. Turn around and catch. Blind fold them.

Fix. This. bullshite.

Saban is just playing chess with all of eyeballs on the scrimmage.

He got smoked several times against a hot South Carolina team and won the game with a come back. He’s been there.

I was at the scrimmage today. It is what it is, but I thought offense looked pretty rough. I don’t think we have “A” QB. When speaking to the group, Saban mentioned “four quarterbacks”, then mentioned “Lonergan” before any of the others. Don’t see a “dawg” WR and hopeful the line can help establish a run game. I look for us to drop a few this year.

He also said he’d been “stepping on their throats” all week and wasn’t going to provide any leadership today, just to see who stepped up.

I don’t think anyone successfully took that particular opportunity to win the job.

I’m just hoping the string of back-to-back practices combined with the heat was responsible for what we saw today.

If I've learned anything in the past 16 years, it's that I shouldn't trust anyone's evaluation of a scrimmage. Sounds like we definitely have some questions on offense, but scrimmages is scrimmages and it won't be as ugly in game. That said, who the frick evaluated these receivers that, apparently, can't catch a ball? They need to take a page out of Smitty's practice regimen.
