I’m really pulling for Milroe, not very often you see a talent like him. Obviously I watched the same games as everyone else, he looked rough at times, he also flashed greatness. I don’t think he’s ready to be a drop back passer but he really doesn’t need to be. With the right power run game, he should face favorable passing numbers on defense and could be throwing to wide open guys

He flashed great speed. He didn't make any throws or reads that suggested greatness. There is still time to improve, but there is some game tape which is cause for concern.

I feel like he could and probably will be a great quarterback for an elite, talent blessed team.

I think he could be too. Right now, it would evaluate the other way.

I think it was against Auburn he rolled out and instead of running for yards or going out of bounds he threw it directly to a wide open Auburn DB. Terrible forced throw he didn’t need to attempt.

That was actually Bryce in the fourth quarter. He forced a throw that was intercepted. Milroe didn’t play against AU.

I remember one play in the A&M game; it was a third down and he had someone wide open in the flats and had rolled out in the same direction. He could have ran for a first, or easily tossed it to an open man. He never set his feet and made an abysmal throw to miss his guy. I mean it looked like me trying to throw left handed and I am very…very right handed. I like Jalen and respect the fact that he didn’t tuck tail and run..I just don’t know if he will be polished enough to be their starter in crimson and white. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

I of course don't make a living as a football coach but if I were evaluating QB's to run my offence I wouldn't give a ton of extra points for mobility. It's a nice feature to have but you only need medium ability in it to extend a play. If you rate too much on mobility it will work great against youngstown state but championship level defenses are going to negate any mobility and make you throw to win. Then you have the issue of can he throw when everybody knows he's got to throw. To me this is 95% of my eval points. And in that analysis snap to release time to a proper target is a huge factor. Reading and release time is a huge factor in winning vs mobility.

My point exactly. Would you trust him to lead a 98 yard drive against Auburn on the road in crunch time like Bryce did in 2021 ? Right now, I would say definitely not. Simpson has shown that he is a more natural passer and with the receivers on this upcoming team we need a distributor. Simpson is also very athletic himself.

What has Simpson showed you that he can lead a team 98 yards down the field during crunch time?

He didn't have five turnovers against Texas A&M and can at least complete a simple five yard out route. Not that it means anything of course

Who here has even seen Simpson throw the ball enough to say he's any better than Milroe?

Why do so many fans waste so much time and energy debating (guessing) who will become the next QB1?

Neither did Milroe, go back and look at the Texas A&M game stats. He had three turnovers (which I agree is too many), and he also threw for three touchdowns. I just want to see them both compete, and the best one start. Heck, I don't care if the starter is Holstein or Lonergan, if that's our best choice

I’m more curious to see if Steele can get the defense back to the standard it should be.

For myself that’s the biggest issue. Bama pissed away two games because of the issues on that side of the ball imo.

To be fair I didn’t even trust Bryce to pull that off lol

Nick Saban: "We're Full Metal Jacket" (SI)

The hall of fame head coach had some choice words in describing his team's offseason plans.

Overall the difference between us and Georgia isn't physical. Our players have the ability, they have been lacking between the ears. I don't mean they are stupid, I mean there is a combination of professionalism which I define as refusing to tolerate mistakes and a willingness do do whatever to eliminate them and dawg mentality It's something all our championship teams developed, but the process of creating/developing that took all off season and in most cases half the season to develop.

Question is do we have the men who are not willing to fail and not willing to let anyone else fail around them

Looking at the last two seasons they had "some" dawg in them, it's not like they were physically weak, but mistakes will sink any teams season, A downfield block by a WR may not seem important in practice but in the season a win vs loss WILL ABSOLUTELY come down to a downfield block, Team leaders can't accept anyone not getting the job done, to the smallest detail.

Disagree. Especially with the defensive front 7.
