$250,000 now or $40 million 10 years from now? Humans have difficulty passing up instant gratification. It can be especially difficult to have an 18 year old make the correct decision time after time when faced with these options. Especially in situations where they can't comprehend what $40 million dollars would mean to them in the future when $250,000 looks like all the money in the world right now.

ETA: I'm absolutely not defending his actions, I'm just saying it's not unbelievable to me that someone would pick instant gratification instead of the long-term payoff.

I’m running out of patience for these guys and their guns and drugs

I own guns. I’ve done drugs.

I also have played professional sports and didn’t even think TWICE about either the entire time.

What the frick are these guys doing? What in the absolute frick.

Did you see the amount of weed they had?

It wasn't no dime bag.

Why any college athlete would be riding around with that much dope is mind boggling.

I haven’t seen anything but the headline

Did this frick really have a serious amount of weed with him?

If so, get rid of him now. What a fricking idiot.

I'm with you. I was trying so hard not to fumble the bag and these kids legitimately don't care and just YOLO.

Looks like a Glock 43. Maybe about $4-$5k cash. No clue on how much weed. But the Glock is bad news for them.

And people thought NIL was the answer. You don't have a glock, weed, scales and cash if you aren't dealing. Pull his scholarship and prevent another senseless killing. If you need a gun in your life, something is wrong with your life. JMO

The scales don't help matters, either. Hard to argue that you don't have an intent to distribute when you're toting scales around.

Nah. If it's packaged for sale or you get caught with a bunch of empty ziplocs the case for intent is better. A scale can be explained away by saying you didn't want to get ripped off.

That's probably a felony amount of weed though, so it might not matter anyway. Looks like at least an ounce.

Right?

I grew up hunting in Alabama and Mississippi. I’ve owned guns my entire life. Causally. Just had them in my vehicle without a thought. I don’t use drugs but I’ve had them around and been around them a ton.

When I was playing ball these things weren’t even an afterthought. It took zero effort to keep that stuff in another world. And that was without NIL and all the social media stuff now.

This dude could have kept his head down and made the NFL with minimal effort. Instead he’s out here surrounding himself with this much drugs? What the hell.

That's a grocery bag of pot lol.

At least a QP, if not more. This is not going to be simple possession. I'd be surprised to see him back in T Town.

This seems to happen in Florida to the point that I found a law firm that has a page dedicated to it. LINK

I think he might get off light by them basically just agreeing to attempt to pin it on the other guy and arguing Tony being a 1st time offender along for the ride considering he is potentially a money maker down the line. Don't know if it will work though with that much bud and it being your car.

I sure hope so. No sense in him doing that but also no sense in someone's life being ruined over something so ultimately insignificant.
