bowl era stunk, what sense does it make to have the top 3 or 4 teams in the country all playing different bowl games? There's no finality or attempt to truly crown the best.
BCS era had the right idea (and ftr got it right pretty much every time), and the playoffs have furthered that. My biggest gripe is I think we should keep a BCS style system (whatever formula or whatever would be involved with that) then take the top 4. I DO appreciate that humans with brains are involved so some measure of common sense can come into play, but humans are also prone to bias.

It makes no sense to have a playoff in order to take the human element out of the equation, yet at the same time, have a selection process that is totally subjective and done by a committee
